I'm not going to get all selfrighteous about how awesome bourbon is, but really, yowzah and I'll leave it at that. But you have a good point about how sugar does not mix well with cold liquids. You might consider boiling a cup of water with a cup of sugar till the sugar LITERALLY DISAPPEARS! So cool! Or it is once you cool it down in a jar in your fridge. Then you can add this "simple syrup" to your favorite beverages as if it were reg'lar sugar, and it mixes right in.

You might also just use non-diet coke. The sugar is already mixed into that. But I think DC has a nice sharp flavor and the regular stuff is just cloying.

Drink hearty!

While our household is in the Godfearing column of pumkin pie lovers I will recommend other drinks for you to experiment with. There's only a few drinks I know (though I love a lot more)

Whiskey sour (which I'm sure you've discovered)
Malibu and pineapple (which is uniquely named for being made of Malibu Rum and Pinapple juice. The Malibu Rum has a cocoanut kick so your drink is essentially cocoanut and pineapple)

If I'm not trying to order something uncomplicated then I'll ask for a Mai Tai, Mojito or anything with five different liquors in it (long island iced tea, lava flow or killer kool aide).

Is is May yet? These babies are really slowing down my drinking!

i have a problem with the diet coke and b/c i love you i'mma tell it. it's bad stuff, it will kill you. my oldest friend of 23 years, who is a self described alcoholic and reckless anorexic gave it up b/c i told her the same thing. and she never listens to anything i say b/c she's a whore.

my son, luke loves pie as much as you and will very often just randomly tell me "i like pie". sometimes, he even draws pictures of it. his like of pie. he does enjoy the pumpkin pie, where if i read correctly, you do not.

i used to pray to be able to drink like you describe here, and back in the day if someone drank my alcoholic beverage, they very well could have ended up in a river with a cement block tied to their toe. that's how series i was about not sharing that. otherwise, i'm a good sharer.

I can only say that I hope against all hope you are mixing those lesser fluids with rye, or bourbon, maybe even Irish whiskey because it would just be too too awful to think of debasing Scotch with any of this.
