Spirit Animal

I’ve been reading The Golden Compass, the first in Philip Pullman’s trilogy called His Dark Materials.  If I wrote a trilogy I’d call it Her Mad Shit.  Anyhow, if you haven’t seen the movie or read the book and if you don’t know the plot, it revolves around a girl called Lyra in a universe slightly different than our own.  Humans in this universe have a dæmon, which is basically a physical representation of the soul in animal form. Children’s dæmon’s change at will, but as they grow into adulthood, the dæmon settles into one form and that is an outward symbol of the human to which it is connected.

As I was reading, I wished more and more that I had a dæmon of my own, so I decided that instead, I’d find out what my spirit animal is.  Despite my instincts telling it was a squirrel, the tests I took led me to the conclusion that my spirit animal is, in fact, the wolf.  It symbolizes loyalty and independence.  Janie thinks hers is the horse, which is nice because we’re supposedly compatible, even if my powerful wolf could kill and eat her if it wanted to.

    Alligator symbolizes “survival and stealth.”

I’m a Hawk/Crow. I’ve been stalked by both, so now I know why

I’m an owl. But hawk was a close second. Owl’s description sounds a little more like my own self-perception.

Uh oh, I’m supposed to “watch out for” you, Linsey! But watch for you to do WHAT, precisely? Perhaps you can let me know. If you’re not too busy doing whatever it is I’m supposed to be watching for, that is.

I’m realizing I don’t know exactly what a wolverine is. WTF? It looks like . . . a bear dog. A dog bear? Also, maybe a bit like an anteater. I dunno.

    I think Janie is a . . . SPIDER! (hee)

(Don’t tell her I said that.)

I took some other sort of test recently and it said I was a tiger. That and this wolverine thing have just got me horribly confused.
