Crapple Cup

Every year the University of Washington (UW – Huskies) and Washington State University (WSU – Cougars) play one another in what is known as the Apple Cup.  This has always been a fierce rivalry, but this year is special.  The two teams combined records are 1-20 and I am too lazy to look at the combined scoring records for the two, but I’m guessing it’s something like 50 – 650, but that might be too generous.  I’m no college football fan, but this year I almost care about watching, just to see someone win something, to prove that one shitty team can bet another shitty team or see what a disaste the game will be.  Since the one win of the season belongs to WSU, and since the UW is my Alma Mater (not that I’m attached, really) I’m going to mentally root for the Huskies while I shop at the outlet stores with my sister.

Things don’t look much better for the Seahawks on Sunday.  Also, we lost our shitty basketball team this summer, the WNBA team we have lost in the early playoffs and our baseball team is in the shitter with about 100 losses.  The only positive sports news we have around here is that I beat Janie to the last Ginger Ale.

From such humble sport triumphs dynasties can grow.

Hey, I mentally rooted for the Huskies while shopping at the outlet mall today too! (I’m also a UW alum although completely not attached to the sports teams). Are we living parallel lives?

And now that I’ve seen your sidebar I totally want Northlake Tavern pizza, dammit! Too bad it is on the other side of the lake from me and I’m a bit hopped up on migraine meds. Frickin’ sinus-induced migraines.
