Welcome, again.

As you may know, if this isn’t your first visit, I’ve made some layout changes. I hope you like it, but if you don’t, you can suck it because I spent too many hours trying to learn CSS so that I could clean this place up for you. I spent money (okay, not really any money) and time altering the appearance here so that you will continue to come back and be entertained. I’m like Michael Jackson that way, except I think, maybe I won’t dangle my baby over the balcony. Maybe. We’ll see.

If, in your clickety-clacking around, you come across something all jacked up, please let me know. You can write me an email or send me an instant message. To be honest, I don’t know much about IMs these days because the last time I used mine, Janie and I had functioning laptops and I was only sending messages back and forth to her while she was sitting on the other end of the couch. Since her laptop pooped out and mine has a power jack issue, we have only one computer and sending each other IMs back and forth on the same desktop pc is more time consuming that just turning to her and saying “Get off me, already.”

There may be some things added or subtracted in the coming days, depending on how well they work or don’t work. I may have to make some changes to archived posts, so if things are screwy while you’re looking back at the time we’ve spent together, just know that I’m slowly working my way through to tidy up.

Over there on the left sidebar, I’ve moved the Bits and Pieces section. I’m deactivating all Bits and Pieces posts and have archived each item by category. I will continue to update the archives as I change the stuff over on the sidebar, so if you’re looking for something I discussed previously, it should be readily available. Let me know if it’s too confusing to find the archives and what, if anything, you think could be more helpful.

A while back, some people were having issues with comments, partly because I did some things to keep those spamming assholes from trying to sell you unwholesome things, like mother-daughter threesomes and car rentals (you should have seen some of the unsightly hatchbacks I saved you from.) I installed the security password in the comments section and removed all previous restrictions and, as far as I know, things are working just fine. If your comment isn’t showing up, please send me an email (or an IM!) and we’ll get this straightened out.

Please note that if you’ve been good enough to link back to a specific post on your website, I’ve changed the way my permalinks are structured. Previously, they were just numbered because when I began this I didn’t know I could change that. I know it now and I’ve changed the permalinks to a day and name structure. It’s entirely possible that this may not be a problem because I think I read somewhere that the older links would still work somehow – and in my brief checking it appeared to be true- but just beware that you may need to check if you’ve linked to a specific post, otherwise, you’re good to go. I appreciate any and all who have linked to this site!

Thanks for visiting. If you were here with me, I’d make you a mocktail and we’d toast our future together. In place of that, here’s my recipe for a delicious virgin Mojito:

Fill a highball with ice cubes, ten mint leaves, 1 tablespoon of simple syrup and the juice of half of a lime. Muddle it fairly well.

fill the glass with diet ginger ale (Seagram’s is my ginger ale of choice these days) and give it a stir.

Drink and then make another. Repeat.

I’m going to bed now.

Crap!I bought the Canada Dry. Do I get banned now?

I do like the new design tho – and it looks like the Twitter issue has been corrected too. Which is great news to me because I need those to get me through my day.

It looks really good, sweets. Good job on the design and keep making us laugh!

I don’t pay much attention to the design of a blog — I’m mainly interested in the words — as long as it doesn’t have a black background or really teeny writing, I’m happy.

I agree – it’s the words that are most important. The design change was, more than anything else, because I wanted to alter a few things and the old layout wouldn’t support what I needed to do, which was kind of sad because I loved the design I had before this. It’s, in all reality, a change that is more for me than anyone else because the majority of the difference is behind the scenes stuff that makes it easier for me to share what I want to share.

    Oh – Happy Canada Day!

    Looks great.

    For what it’s worth:

Re: change in permalink structure, there are a few plugins that generate a 301 permanent redirect on your end, so your lovely readers don’t have to do anything on their part because of your change. (Hopefully you don’t mind links:) For example, this one, this one, and this one.

There is also a 404 error (page not found) plugin that tracks all 404s and either emails you or you can get the RSS of it. That way you’ll know if folks are linking to old permalinks of yours.
