Here are the first lines of fifteen random songs from my iPod. Can you guess any of them without cheating?
- Some boys kiss me, some boys hug me, I think they’re okay
- You come out at night, that’s when the energy comes
- Wake up, mister microphone
- Spring is here and the sky is so very blue
- When I was eight I had a friend with a pirate smile
- Anyone who’s ever had a heart wouldn’t turn around and break it
- Why don’t you ask him if he’s going to stay?
- Alone, listless, breakfast table in an otherwise empty room
- Now I’m your big mal dropper, mud duck stopper, Fila on the bottom and Adidas on the topper
- Tumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen
- I saw him dancin’ there by the record machine
- Well the men come in these places, and the men are all the same
- Hey God, why are you doing this to me?
- Well, I lay my head on the railroad track waitin’ on the double e
- To all the ladies in the place with style and grace, allow me to lace these lyrical duches in your bushes

The first two are Madonna (Material Girl) and Sarah McLachlan (Building A Mystery). You have some fun songs in there.
It would take me forever to finish a post like this, only because I would get so distracted with my ipod I would end up listening to several albums all the way through. Several hours later I would find myself wondering aloud “What was I doing again?”.
You’re are correct about the first two!
I’m surprised Janie hasn’t chimed in with the answers to 9 and 15!
My iPod is the most random jumble of songs.
6. Sweet Jane – Cowboy Junkies?
10. Dolly workin’ 9 to 5?
11. that’s a close one – on the tip of my brain but I just can’t get it!
6 and 10 – yes and yes!
11 – tell me if you need a hint
:)
Is number 11 Pat Benatar, or is it that other song I always confuse with one of hers?
I’m surprised no one has guessed number 8 yet either, but I might be partial to that particular band…
I only got five of those right. Because I don’t like Sarah McLachlan. Or Dolly. Or Terri. I do like Cyndi but still got her wrong.
11 is Joan Jett & The Black Hearts- I Love Rock & Roll…it got stuck in my head last night and has been there ever since.
In elementary school my friend insisted it was Pat Benatar. I still have to think about it, and I’ve been out of elementary school for over 20 years now. Damn, I’m old. But that’s okay, because it means that I’ve been right for over 20 years now too. ;)
Also, #8 is Pearl Jam – Daughter. That one has been killing me!
Oh yeah, I’m also playing this game over at my blog now too.
[...] here goofing off downloading music to my iTunes playlist for The Wire, I’m gonna pick up Linsey’s fun idea. Here are the first lines of the next 15 songs set on shuffle – from the aforementioned playlist. [...]
#3 is “Space Dog” by Tori Amos, but I’m clueless about the rest.
I hope you’re planning on sharing all the answers! ;)
Don’t worry – I will definitely share the answers. :)

All of it. Even that thing I wrote that time.
Even this: poop. poop. poop.
That's mine. I wrote it.
When you steal, a kitten breaks its leg. True story.
Thank you.
