To be served after football season

The Seattle PI has just finished a four-part series concerning University of Washington football under former Head Coach Rick Neuheisel and former Athletic Director Barbara Hedges. Players of that era included the very troubled Jerramy Stevens, currently a player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The series investigates happenings nearly 8 years old, with little hope for accountability or reparations for the disgusting behavior of past players, coaches, and legal officials who looked past some sickening indiscretions. It’s worth the time to read because clearly this same attitude is rampant in much of college football today and trickles into the NFL. The message sent is that if you’re a star football player, you can get away with almost anything – rape, battery, robbery – and you’re no less a hero in the eyes of those only concerned with winning.
